Large Lorraine oak 19th century antique french chest of drawers dresser
A stunning, large very heavy well made antique chest of drawers dated back to the 19th century and made in Lorraine oak. They have been shipped over from Brussels and are in an antique condition, with a couple of splits in the wood on the top of the piece and a missing lock on the top drawer. It features a thin drawer on the top with three large drawers below with dovetail joints. There are the beautiful ornate gold handles in place and ornate carvings throughout. The sides are panelled. Measurements 143 W 105 H 55 D All of the pieces get well cleaned inside and out, back to front and underneath. The handles are removed , insides and sides of drawers taped off and the whole Piece gets sanded well to remove the old varnish. It will get 1-2 coats of a wood primer either a white of a dark tones one depending on the colour, then around 3 coats of paint (I use a few brands I can show you more examples if you wish). After that I usually put on around 3 coats of varnish (either matte, satin or gloss). The handles get cleaned and polished well before being re added. The inside of the piece will get either oiled , varnished or waxed depending on its condition. All scratches I get out with oil. I sand the sides of the drawers well and wax to make sure they open smoothly and sometimes line them with some nice paper too depending on the condition of the insides. I use a couple of trusted couriers to get the piece to you, they give a day and a rough time so you don’t have to wait in all day - your contact details are passed over to them so they can liaise directly with you and give you an hours notice if needed. Everything gets bubble wrapped and strapped into their vans during transport and all of my pieces come with a box with sample pots of the paint and varnish used, aftercare instructions and an aftercare leaflet.
