A truly distinctive late Victorian solid oak sideboard, dating from approximately 1880–1900, this exceptional piece is rich in character and craftsmanship. Beautifully adorned with highly detailed Green Man carvings, foliage motifs and traditional turned legs, it is a wonderful example of Victorian furniture making, blending gothic and naturalistic influences that remain highly sought after today.
 
This sideboard has undergone a meticulous professional restoration to preserve its heritage while making it perfectly suited to modern living. The entire piece was expertly sanded and soda blasted back to its raw wood, carefully removing decades of old finishes while retaining the incredible carved detail. A subtle white wash was then applied to enhance the natural grain and texture of the oak, creating a soft contemporary finish without losing the warmth and charm of the original timber.
 
To provide long-lasting protection, the sideboard has been finished with two coats of premium water-based polyurethane varnish, creating a durable surface that is ideal for everyday use while allowing the beauty of the wood to remain the focal point.
 
Completing the transformation is a luxurious quartz worktop, replacing the original top with a stunning, practical surface that perfectly balances traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. As is not uncommon with furniture of this age, there are historic signs of old woodworm. The piece has been professionally treated, is completely structurally sound, and noticeable holes have been filled as best as possible during the restoration process.
